In response, Essilor brought Eyezen™ enhanced single vision lenses to the market. Eyezen lenses improve vision by addressing the visual demands of people using smartphones, tablets and other digital devices. Eyezen lenses also help reduce consumers’ exposure to Harmful Blue Light3 by at least 20%–even emmetropes–and allows them to experience greater visual comfort when using digital devices or doing any near-vision tasks, by including a small amount of accommodative relief in each design.*

A NEW INNOVATION FOR EYECARE PROFESSIONALS

Eyezen™+ lenses are Essilor’s newest lens innovation. They are the only lenses in the Eyezen brand portfolio to contain the Smart Blue Filter™ feature, which is embedded into an aesthetically clear lens and designed to help reduce at least 20% of Harmful Blue Light from entering the eyes.

There are four Eyezen+ lens designs only available through independent eyecare professionals, and the patient’s age determines which design is suggested for them.

  • • Eyezen+ 0 – patients age 17 and under

  • • Eyezen+ 1 – patients age 18 to 34

  • • Eyezen+ 2 – patients age 35 to 44

  • • Eyezen+ 3 – patients age 45 to 504

All four designs help reduce digital eye strain and exposure to Harmful Blue Light which help to meet the needs of patients’ modern lifestyles.

Eyezen+ lenses are supported by national consumer marketing efforts and Essilor’s Power of Vision, a consumer rebate promotion, which directs consumers to an independent ECP locator. In addition, Essilor has partnered with major vision care plans, so more patients can experience the benefits of Eyezen+ lenses.

EXTENDING THEIR REACH

As Essilor’s consumer base evolves, so has its strategy. That’s why it is offering Eyezen prescription lenses and Eyezen nonprescription glasses directly to consumers through independent eyecare professionals, mass retailers and online. Essilor knows the need to protect eyes extends well beyond those who need vision correction and are currently visiting their eyecare professional for an annual exam. That’s why a multichannel approach had to be created, to reach younger emmetropes who are not actively engaged in their own eye health.

By offering Eyezen where these consumers are, we are able to educate them on the need for protection against Harmful Blue Light, give them access to our products while raising awareness about the importance of seeing an independent eyecare professional for an annual eye exam*. Research shows that 73% of consumers say they have browsed products online but decided to purchase them in-store5. So while Eyezen is available online, we believe the majority of consumers will actually purchase them through an eyecare professional.

EYEZEN PRICING STRATEGY

In an effort to continue to support eyecare professionals business, Essilor has created a price parity structure with all distribution channels–eyecare professionals, mass retailers and online retailers–who will receive the same wholesale prices for Eyezen lenses. We encourage you to speak with your sales representative for the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.

For Eyezen+ lenses, Essilor’s recommended resale price for independent eyecare professionals is $45 over their current price for single vision lenses.
